History
- Epidote was named by Rene Just Haüy in 1801 from the Greek word "επιδοσιζ" (epidosis), meaning "to enlarge", because it has the crystalline feature of one longer side at the base of the prism. It can be defined as Calcium Aluminium Iron Silicate. It usually contains various colours of green, brown and yellow. Epidote is also a key constituent of some rocks. Epidosite is a stone composed of Quartz and Epidote. Unakite is an altered Granite composed of Epidote, pink Feldspar and colourless Quartz.

Care
- Epidote can be easily cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft cloth or brush. Be sure to rinse it well to remove any soapy residue. Jasper is quite porous, which allows it to stain quickly as it easily absorbs other chemicals and colors. Avoid prolonged exposure to heat as heating can permanently change the color of your stones. When storing stone jewelry or the stones themselves, it is best to place them in a fabric-lined box or wrap them in cloth separately from other stones to prevent damage and scratches. It is advisable to remove the jewelry during major physical activities such as gymnastics or sports. Avoid spraying perfume and hairspray directly on your jewelry and stones.
