History
- Amethyst is one of the most precious stones belonging to the quartz group (quartz group of minerals). It belongs to the macro crystalline branch of quartz. Amethyst crystals grow on the inner surface of Agate geodes, which can grow up to several centimetres. Geodes containing Amethyst often reach several metres in height. Its magnificent colour, which ranges from deep purple to pale greyish-purple, is dependent on the presence of aluminium, manganese and iron. Amethyst can also appear as reddish-purple or yellow-purple (depending on the combination of minerals in the quartz).

- Ametist je precej trd in vzdržljiv, zato se ga lahko očisti s parnikom in ultrazvočnim čistilcem. Ametist je mogoče enostavno očistiti s toplo vodo in blagim milom. Obrišite ga z mehko krpo. Izogibajte se dolgotrajnemu izpostavljanju vročini, saj lahko Ametistu povzroči trajne poškodbe. Shranjevanje nakita iz kamnov in same kamne je najbolje dati v škatlo prevlečeno s tkanino ali pa jih zavijemo v krpico ločeno od ostalih in s tem preprečimo samo škodo ter morebitne praske. Priporočljivo je, da nakita ne nosite med večjimi fizičnimi aktivnostmi, kot so telovadba ali šport. Izogibajte se pršenju parfuma in laka za lase direktno po svojem nakitu.
