Vajra is made up of several parts:

  • sphere (circle) – represents Sunyata (the original nature of the universe), which is the basic unity of all things
  • two lotus flowers - one flower represents Samsara and the other Nirvana. The lotus represents enlightenment.
  • sixteen leaves - represents the sixteen ways of emptiness
  • Three rings - represent emptiness and effortless living, or the three blisses of the Buddha. The rings or rings represent the six perfections: patience, generosity, discipline, effort, meditation and wisdom.
