Sugilite

History

In 1980, Sugilite was officially classified as a rare stone, which led to an increase in its price. Sugilite gets its attractive purple colour from traces of Manganese. Its colour ranges from pinkish-purple to deep bluish-purple. Sugilite may also contain yellowish or reddish spots and light purple or white spots. Sugilite usually occurs in massive form and crystals are extremely rare. Sugilite can be mixed with quartz or black matrix, resulting in different characteristics such as hardness.
